Stuart Macpherson, a student of Celtic studies at Edinburgh university, goes on a camping trip in the Scottish highlands and travels back in time to the year 684AD. He visits an ancient hillfort and meets the king of the Picts, Bridei Mac Beli at a pivotal time in Pictish history.
